Westlake Primary School: Kind Kids Group Program

Westlake Primary School: Kind Kids Group Program

Our Kind Kids Group Program is a one-year, school-based intervention program that combines mindfulness practice with social and emotional learning skills. These skills support learners in developing their attentional and cognitive skills and emotional intelligence, whilst discovering their driving power. The fun activities motivate learners to develop greater awareness of their bodies, thoughts and emotions. Practicing these activities teaches the learners to be kind to themselves and others, and there is a notable difference in the way that they interact with one another. Our goal is to develop learners’ abilities for emotional self-regulation through connections and supportive relationships with reliable caregivers/community members who soothe the learners in the sessions and teach by example/model the skills in a process called “co-regulation.
